So...nausea = too much to eat?
I am having trouble deciphering my new stomach's signals...I was cleared for solid food yesterday (YAY!) and had an egg and some asparagus. Everything was going fine, when all of a sudden BAM I feel like I'm going to puke.
Did I eat too much? The nausea lasted for about 2 hours, and slowly eased. It came on so quickly, that I was shocked by it. Never had this happen while on soft foods.
Yep. What you experienced sounds like what is commonly know around here as "the foamies." It is often accompanied by intense watering of the mouth. For many, it is caused by eating too fast or too much (or both). I'm afraid it's a lesson often learned the hard way. Slow down and listen to your body while you eat. After every bite, wait a minute and ask yourself, "Am I full?" before continuing.

Remember that you're still early out. You won't feel the typical "full" feelings for a few more weeks while your nerve endings heal. Weigh and measure everything so that you don't end up stretching your staple line.

It is going to be a TOTAL different experience than when you had the LAPBAND.
Eventually you will get to the point where you will instantly stop eating because you JUST KNOW you are about to get that too full feeling. For right now, I suggest to put your fork or spoon down for a few seconds before taking the next bite. With the sleeve I noticed that it is a DELAYED full feeling. Very rarely I will still get the slight nose run like when I had the BAND.... but that is few and far between.
It is a learning experience. At this point. I can only get in about 1.5 to 2 oz of DENSE protein in one setting. Asparagus might be too soon if you are just starting out eating. Try just the egg next time. Gradually add food to see what you can handle.

I usually was very alert about volumes and would increase it as I got to know my new stomach. I started with a tablespoon of egg.... stopped. The next time added a teaspoon... stopped.... and so on and so forth.
Reading the signals can take some time. I am 5 months out and still have that one extra bite.
The only other advice I would offer would be to eat slow. Chew 20 times, even though it feels silly.
Welcome to solids!!
