Surgery was on Monday and the gas pains are kicking my butt. I'm walking and sipping my clear liquids. Does GasX work? Are there any specific exercises or stretches that work best to help with the gas? Also, how long does the gas usually last?

The best thing to move the gas is just moving - walk walk walk.  Don't know why, but being in motion gets it in motion.  GasX helped a little, depending on where it was located in the body, but moving was the most effective.

Feel better!

Thanks for responding! How long did you have gas in your system?

The initial gas a couple of days (the stuff the pumped in).  But with eating and drinking you are swallowing air and adding new gas, that is the stuff I had more problems with.  Your body will adjust pretty quickly.  The first couple weeks are the worst - then things improve pretty quickly!

I have no idea why this worked for me, but I happened to lie down on the floor on my right side (I was charging my Kindle and wanted to read it still and that was the only way to configure myself lol) and lo and behold it started "moving" to be polite. Worth a try I guess to try different positions like that. My gas pains lasted about a week :-(

the surgerical gas(co2) is pumped in to give the surgeon more room to work it is not in your sleeve or in itestines , but in the space between your organs, there like air bubbles and when you move in different positions, the bubbles float to the top , hopefuly to some where that hurts less till they are absorbed by your blood and expelled

Exactly. Those are the bubbles that are getting me! I can feel them moving in my chest and it's SUPER uncomfortable :(

A friend of mine who had bypass insisted on GasX. I found it to be completely useless because the gas was in the abdomen from the surgery -not the colon.  What worked for me was walking.  Whatever helps you is what is good.
