Head hunger is a ***** There is a protein bread from Julian's bakery. It has 11-14 grams of protein and only a few carbs. It might be nasty but it might help. Also, there is something called "Oopsie Bread" and cream cheese pancakes (same idea). That might fool you into thinking it's bread. In the beginning I used to find strength in knowing that I was in control and I had a choice every day. You are not out of control and you need to just ignore the cravings and think about being skinny!

Shoot, I didn't notice that you're only 6 days out. The only thing you can do is try to ignore it.

The first month is the toughest, you will experience "buyers remorse" but that will change as you are able to eat "real food" again.... I think water is the key, it will make you feel full. You will get frustrated and hate that you are stuck but its only temporary!

You just have to push through for now. Find things to distract you from that head hunger. You can do this!

How many carbs are you consuming? I think if you cut down on your carbs (keep them below 40 grams) you will find that you don't have the cravings. It's not all in your head.

So I am 5 months out and I want a grilled cheese too. The kind made with big ol' texas toast, lots of owwie gooie cheese, grilled to perfection with lots of butter. I can have one if I wanted but I chose not to. You will find that once you are cleared for all foods... And you do eat something that you are craving... it is not going to taste as good as you remember. Wait until you are cleared for saftey reasons and try a bite. I will bet it really isnt a grilled cheese that you want. The liquid and mush stages are hard. Just hang in there!

The first few weeks are hard, but as everyone has been saying, it gets a lot better. I was miserable my first two weeks after surgery. Six weeks out and I almost feel normal again.

Once you are able to eat solid foods you should start experiencing restriction which will do a lot to decrease your cravings.

Drink lots of water!
