I am a stomach sleeper. I have never slept on my back. Are there any suggestions from fellow tummy sleepers after surgery? Can I sleep on my tummy after surgery? If not, how long before I will be able to do so? Thanks so much.

I too am a stomach sleeper. I slept pretty much sitting up the first few days. It was painful to me to even lay on my side. Once I was able to, I slept on my side. I have seen people post on here about being able to sleep on their stomach after a few days. It took me about 2 weeks. I think it depends on how comfortable you are sleeping on your stomach after surgery.

I wasn't able to sleep on my stomach for at least 2 weeks after surgery. Your whole abdomonal region is going to be tender feeling. I slept on my side and used pillows to prop me up.

I am 5 days out and have had a very easy recovery. The first 2 nights I slept on my back and side however I am a stomach sleeper. Last night I was able to sleep on my stomach with a little discomfort. I slept like that for about 5 hours and woke up. I then went back to sleep on my side.

I tend to sleep on my side or three quarters stomach.  Don't try fully on your stomach right after surgery.  Give yourself a few days and protect yourself with pillows if you can.

I was most sore at night so that's when I took a dose of pain meds for a few days.  After that I was fine.

I am a side/tummy sleeper and I was able to sleep on my side without pain the first night. 7 days out and I can sleep on my tummy if I use a body pillow.

Good luck to you

I was okay about 5 nights post-op. I was so happy, could not get good sleep until then!

I was a tummy/side sleeper before surgery, but I am not able to sleep on my tummy at all any more. I haven't seen any posts by anyone else that they have the same problem. I can still sleep on my side, but I find that I sleep on back a lot now and I wasn't that way before surgery. Weirdness.

I'm a tummy sleeper, but I slept in a recliner for 2 weeks. I couldn't even lay in my bed at all for 2 weeks.
