Hey everyone,

My nurse practitioner tells me that my surgeon will withdrawal all of the gas he puts in my abdomen during the surgery.  Does this mean I won't have the dreaded shoulder gas pains postop?

I read something that someone posted on here a few weeks ago that apparently their surgeon does this. They remove the gas, fill ya back up and remove it once again and apparently that works.

I hope my surgeon does this.

I don't know for sure...but I can tell you that my hubby and I both didn't have any gas pains.  In fact, hubby had kidney stone surgery a few months before and hurt so bad that he was dreading the sleeve surgery.

I can relate, tubes tied in 09 and remember the gas pains in my shoulder. Dang they hurt lol and I wasn't told they were gas until about 2 days later. Heck someone could have brought me in something if that was the case.

I asked my surgeon about the gas. He told me, in order for him to see, the Anesthiologist pumps you up soo big like you are pregnant..so I was prepared.

BUT.. I had NO GAS pains at all!! In face, no pain at all. My incisions (7), plus an umbilical hernia repair did not hurt at all..just a little tender. I even vomited and had NO pain..

Just sayin..

Its 50/50. Some people get gass pains and some don't I was one of the unlucky ones although I only had to suffer through it for 1 day.

Not sure of the reasons or details, but I never had any gas pain at all, and I had to have surgery two days in a row due to complications.
