Morning gang. Yesterday I did that stupid thing I do every couple of years. I had ice cream. Just one scoop, in a cup. Apparently it was high quality, because I felt like dying after. I swear I'll never do it again. If only I was that smart.

But we did go to our favorite lighthouse and had our first fish and lobster roll after they opened for the season. I got to throw French fries to a couple of seagulls. So that part of the day was good.

QOTD: It's Patriot's Day! Also, Marathon Monday, which starts in just a few hours. The Red Sox always play at 11 am on Patriots Day. Maybe I'll row the Charles River today, and keep it all in Boston.

Those shape games, lol. The young teens in my life just found out about Operation and the response was "you played this for fun?", they were not equipped for the buzzer situation.

The patient's eyes being open is scary to me.

Breyers sells lactose free ice cream. I can eat that with no issues.

It's not the lactose. It's the liquid sugar.

There is no way around that. I wish there was.

Good morning, everybody!

It nipped into the 80's yesterday! Usually, I go to the gym on Sunday's to make up the non-cardio stuff that I missed on my two rest days, but yesterday, I just sat out on the screen porch and read. No regrets, either. It is supposed to be nice this week and no cold days are in the 10 day forecast, but I don't think that we will see 80 degrees again for a few weeks.

Each Spring this landscaping company comes by and delivers mulch to anybody in the neighborhood who wants it. Although it's annual, it still manages to be an unexpected event every year. "who is knocking at our door?" They did half of our yard last night and are doing the other half today. This year, we chose the option where they put it in directly in the flower beds. I don't mind spreading it myself, but it's one less thing to think about.

Now comes the flower dilemma - if we put in our annuals, will we get an unexpected frost? I don't ever remember Mother's Day baskets being frost damaged, and the 10 day does look good, so maybe we can get away with it? Or we may just go halfway and do pansies? In either case, the lawn is ready to be mowed and that blasted Parslane is already growing in the expansion cracks of my driveway. If i'm smart I will pull it this weekend before it gets too big.

QOTD: The Chicago schoolchildren get the first Monday in march off for Casmir Pulaski Day. Hopefully, Matt posts because as a native Chicagoan, I'm sure he is much more adept at explaining the genesis of this holiday than me.

The kids get of the Monday after Thanksgiving for the 1st day of Deer season, but I don't count it as a holiday as nothing else is closed but schools.

Most of the rest of the US does not understand the first day of deer season. I was working in a GM plant and one of the new foremen, Larry, walked in and immediately saw two big guys fighting. They stopped throwing punches and asked Larry what he had just seen. Larry was scared and answered that he had not seen anything.

One of the guys said, "Wrong answer, you saw the two of us fighting. We both demand a week off as discipline and start on Monday for deer season".
