What brand are you using? What would you recommend?

Hi there, many folks enjoy the Premiere protein drinks available from Costco or the IsoPure drinks. However, depending on your centre, you may be encouraged to get your protein from food rather than drinks. At Guelph they're pretty strict about that.

I have tried many, I found Costco premier protein ones work well for me. I never used them preop but post op very often the first few months. Now, very rarely.

For the ready-to-drink shakes, Premiere Protein (from Costco) is really good. I like them. I find them thick so I add water to thin them out a bit (and add more fluid for my daily water intake).

As for the powders, I like to get the Bio-X brand from Popeye's. I love the flavours. I like that Popeye's caters well to WLS patients. They give out samples of their most popular powders, AND they give you Popeye's 'bucks' that you can use for future purchases. Get a sample of the Bio-X and give it a shot. Can't hurt to try.

I feel like Ive tried every one under the sun and have been drinking BioX for two years now. I prefer the chocolate. Tastes like Opti for me. Most I find are too sweet and premier I found was too thick.

I would not stock up on a ton of powders. You will need one to add to food after surgery to up your protein but your tastes change. What you like now you may not like later
