I know its not a big deal to have to wait an extra day but I am tired of opti and i just want this done. Apparently Ottawa has had to cancel a sx day so I was bumped to april 24th. I only have enough opti to last til the 22nd. Not sure what they expect me to do for one day. I am not buying another box. Any suggestions?

Ask your centre. I actually ended up with opti left over because I never had more than three a day. I just could not stand the fourth

Hamilton hospital required me finish the Opti 2 days before surgery and only do liquids those 2 days. I would still call your centre to get their advice, but I wouldn't worry about buying more. Good luck!

Awe well at least you dont have to wait a week.  I would call your centre but they might say clear liquids untill surgery.  Good luck

Usually you only take the optifast until 2 days before your surgery - then clear fluids for 2 days - to prepare your intestines for surgery.  That way no evacuation preparations are needed before the surgery - (none of that yuk stuff for clearing out your bowels!)  and the night before surgery - nothing by mouth at all.  You should be fine if you have enough optifast to get you to the 22 if your surgery is the 24.  Good luck - time moves fast once you are there!!!  I am just a few months out, with a start weight of 222, and now am UNDER 200!! For the First Time in Forever!!! (to quote the movie Frozen!!)

I drank my last opti the night before surgery, so do ask as different centers have different guidelines.  And TWH did not do anything to clean out my bowels before surgery.  Pat is right your center most likely has a few extra, packets either samples or they will have some ideas.

Here in Ottawa, we do Opti right through to the day before our surgery, and then after midnight, nothing (except a little water to stay hydrated****il surgery the next day.

Let me know if you need some; I did my Opti in January and I have a few packages leftover from the days I just COULDN'T do four per day!
