Delicious homemade protein bars
Save your pennies...ladies and gents! I have finally found a homemade protein bar recipe that actually tastes delicious and is affordable in comparison to the expensive protein bars I was formerly buying. If you like Quest bars, then you will like these.
The recipe is ridiculously easy, too!
4 scoops of protein powder of choice (I use BioX chocolate or Six Stars Vanilla)
1/4 cup ground flax seed
1/4 cup all natural nut butter of your choice (I've used almond, hazelnut, sunflower butter and peanut butter depending on what I have on hand or what taste I'm looking for)
1/4 sugar free davinci syrup - flavour your choice (I generally like vanilla best, but I have used cinnamon, chocolate and hazelnut as well)
Mix it all together, spray non-stick spray on your hands since the dough is sticky, and either form into bars or roll into balls. Place in fridge for 30 minutes to harden up a bit. I store them in the freezer. If the dough is too dry, you can add a bit or water or more davinci syrup. You could also add some splenda, depending on how sweet you want it. You can add any extra flavourings that you want as well...cinnamon, peppermint extract, cocoa powder for an extra chocolate taste. You could sweeten with sugar free maple syrup if you wanted a maple tasting bar. The potential varities are endless. And I swear, these fill you up and taste great. The main thing is making sure you are using a protein powder that you actually like the taste of.
I hope you enjoy them if you try this recipe out!
