Stall.

Happy Friday all :)

Day 12 of opti, and I've hit a stall already!!

I was losing 1-2 pounds a day for the first week or so, started at 270, and now, day 12, and I've been stuck at 255 for 3 days.

I did get a menstrual cycle (TMI? sorry lol) my first one since February. So that may be why I'm holding weight.

But I did really hope to be in the 240s by surgery (Monday morning)

I haven't cheated not a ONCE. And it's frustrating being on strict diet but not seeing results.

Anyone else have this experience?

This is a jagged pill to swallow, but you're going to have to get used to this.  You will NOT lose weight every day.  Nor every week for that matter. Sorry but if you read this forum at all, you'd know that.

I agree and being almost 4 years post-op..I would highly recommend that you not weigh yourself more than once a week.

A lot of people freak out in the beginning of their journey when the scale does not move,,your body needs at least 4-6 months...to REALLY figure out how to deal with all of this change.

If you follow what you are told and don;t cheat and don;t have any complicaitons, you will continue to lose, stalling or having a plateau anywhere along the way is normal...the length of that..is totally up to your body.

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!

Not a stall at all. A stall is when the scale doesn't move for three weeks. A lot of people don't lose more than 5 pounds on Opti. Everyone is different. And yes, you could be holding water weight. Aren't you glad with the loss you've had already?

Good luck!!

1-2 pounds a day is great and not really sustainable.... think about it, on WW and all the other diets they talk about 1-2 lbs. a week!

You are doing great and water retention is not helping.

First of all stop weighing yourself daily... I am on Opti too and on such a restrictive diet you expect to see more and better results....

You are doing great!!! angry

Stay positive and don't forget, you have the whole year to loose it all.... it took a while to gain it all, it will take a while to lose it as well.

You are setting yourself up for some HUGE mind games.  Get off the scale. Seriously.

You are not going to lose a pound every day for the rest of your life.  You would lose 365 lbs in a year. Think about how crazy that would be.

Focus on protein and water.  Put the scale away -- in the car if necessary. It will only mess with your head.

I lost just under 15lbs during the 3 weeks of opti. I had hoped it would be more but really was happy averaging 5lbs a week.
The weight loss on this journey is not a steady line down, more like a staircase that goes down, then stays level a bit and then goes down again and so on.
I am a scale ***** and although it drives me crazy when I go 3 days with no loss, I understand its part of the process and totally normal.
Don't stress out too much, hang in there and keep your eye on the prize! You're almost there!

Thanks!

I just feel like I'm eating nothing. How am I not losing? That's all.

Didn't mean to offend or discourage others.

I don't think you offended or discouraged anyone.... we just want you to be realistic about the process otherwise you will constantly get disappointed and as a result might make wrong decisions along the way.

I know this is easier said then done because I am like you, expecting constant weight loss but I am working on myself to change.

Again, you are doing great! just stay off the scale kiss

"I just feel like I'm eating nothing. How am I not losing? That's all."

Because your body just went... WTF! She's starving me... SLOW DOWN for a moment... What are we "doing" here...

It will happen all along the way and often the plateaus coincide with what I call the shift. Inches drop and the pounds don't move.

*passes a measuring tape*

That's more fun to track... you can measure ANYTHING with that.
