Hello Everyone,

Last night around 6:30 I started getting some really bad pains in my stomach...the pain is in the centre around where my ribs meet and all across. If you can imagine how a charlie horse feels thats what was happening in my stomach...I spent almost 2 hours curled up in a ball. I took soem gas x thinking it might just be gas but it didn't seem to help to much. I tried to go to the bathroom with little luck...only some

around 7:30-8 I got really shaky and cold and no matter how many blankets I put on I couldn't warm up.

This is all happening while I was at my friends for dinner...i couldn't even eat

Around 10 I left my friends to come home...my stomach seemed to calm down a bit until I left her house to walk to my car....I wanted to stop and curl up in a ball it started hurting so much.

My husband is out of town so I called my mom to come stay with me cuz I was really nervous if something went wrong and no one was here...i had never experienced this pain to this degree

On the way home I turned on the heat for a few minutes nd then I was boiling hot....it wasn't even high heat!

When I got home I was finally able to go to the bathroom...I had the runs (TMI sorry)

My body has been going between hot and cold, hot and cold...this is my third time waking up tonight...2 of the times I had stomach pains

I don't know what I should be doing...should I go down to Toronto Western or should I just try to sleep it off?

Whenever I have a drink I get stomach pains again within 10 minutes so im a bit worried about getting dehydrated....I don't want to eat anything cuz I don't want the pain to come back.

What would you do if you were in my shoes?

I know you are going to ask what I ate yesterday...
4 strawberries
peach greek yogurt
mixed nuts
Propel Zero
and yes I did have something I shouldn't have...my friend gave me some candy thing...

I had my surgery Sept 26 and I only had 1 episode of dumping in October...since then nothing...I have tested the waters before and have had no problems...also, doesn't dumping only usually stick around for 2 hours ish?? And this is nothing like the last time!

Please give me your feedback on what I should do!

Jenn

Hi Jenn

Yes it sounds like dumping to me....especially looking at your menu....very little protein in what you have listed...under 10 grams? not much there to absorb the sugar in the ""candy thing""

Likely you are eating more protein then that every day....at least I hope so - low protein will also effect your weight loss

Hope you feel better today

Should it be lasting this long though?

Sorry - missed the time line

That is a long time to feel ill.....up to you....I hate emerg....what about your family doc or a clinic if you are worried

Unless I felt really ill....I would wait it out and see if things settle down....but only you know how bad it is....and can make that determination

Do you have your gallbladder?

I haven't had surgery yet, but to me that sounds just like when I was having problems with my gall bladder. Would last about 6-8 hrs sometimes when I would pass a stone and the pain hurt so bad, I would curl up in a ball and would get shakes and sweat too. If you have your gall bladder you might of had an attack

You need to call the bariatric clinic this morning and tell them your symptoms.

It is possible you have a bowel infectin (unlikely)
It is possible you were dumping, thugh it shouldn't last onger than 4 hours (on average)
It is more likely there is something else going on, and it is possible that it is serious.

Talk to the clinic, see if they can get you in to see one of the specialists.

That way you avoid Emerg and see the right people right away.
Take this seriously.

To me it sounds like gall bladder as well... but you need to go to the dr clinic or emerg.... it COULD be something more serious

So far they have taken blood and have me hooked up to an iv...some of the blood work is because I have a fever and they want to know if it's in my blood too...Supposedly they watch the blood for 48 hours to see if it grows anything??

I will post updates as they come

. Sounds like they're doing a blood culture, to see if you have a bacterial infection in your blood.

Please let them know that they should probably call your surgeon, or the WL surgeon on call at your WLS centre, that's what Dr Huynh told me to do if i went to ER with any stomach related complaints. PLEASE do this.
