Optifast and gout?
Did anyone get gout while on Optifast? I have always had high uric acid levels, partly because I take water pills for edema, and I know weight loss itself can trigger an attack. But Optifast?? Give me a break here. And I am only on day 5. :(

Gout is one pain you don't need. I too have high uric acid and was on Allopurinol. Just had repeat labs done. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Are you taking anything for your high uric acid?

I'm not taking anything for it right now, but I plan on phoning my family doctor to see what they can give me tomorrow. I'll ask about the Allopurinol. Thanks so much.

Allopurinol does nothing for the pain. All it does is reduce serum uric acid levels.
I actually had a flare up right after starting allopurinol. It sucked bad.
