For those who experienced complications...
no doubt. I knew of possible complications going into this, but most were complications that could be fixed...a stroke, heart attack, joint damage, diabetes...these were complications that could not be fixed and were a very real potential without the surgery.
I have had some complications (stricture, dehydration...) but, the good so out weighs the bad.

I developed severe hypoglycemia and low blood pressure. Those things were not mentioned to me before surgery but even if they had been I still would have done it. There is no comparison to my life now and my life prior to surgery. I can live with my issues, although the hypoglycemia can come on at really inconvenient times, I can live with it.
I had a second emergency surgery 2 days after my RNY for a bowel obstruction. Four weeks later I had a serious wound infection requiring 11 weeks of packing and dressings by homecare nurses. Would I still do this surgery again even with the possibility of complications.
YOU BET I WOULD! I can say that with absolutely no hesitation.
