Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

My main problem is food addiction. I have been known to sneak food, be in self denial about what & how much I've eaten and have horrible cravings for the worst types of fattening foods.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The pain in my hips, legs, ankles & feet. I also hate apnea & never having enough energy.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I had a lap-band in 2006, but had to have it removed in 2010 due to what they call a "contamination" that almost cut my stomach where the band was in 2. in those 3&1/2 years, I went down from 535lbs to a very healthy 279lbs and felt amazing! Unfortunately, since I had band removed, I went up to 385 in a scarily short amount of time! I am now waiting to have a gastric bypass on 3/20/12
