Question:
I AM A NERVOUS WRECK AND NEED TO KNOW...

My WLS is scheduled for Thurs. I am still awaiting Ins approval, which has practically given me ulcers, so between this and the general nervousness about the surgery, I am a mess - can't even eat! I am wondering if that deep in the pit of your stomach, anxious feeling could somehow affect my surgery in some way. I mean, I feel like my stomach is doing flip flops and fear that they'll go in to staple it and end up hitting my liver instead! Does this make sense? What do you think? Can nerves affect the physiology of WLS? Thanks as always.    — rebeccamayhew (posted on April 1, 2002)

First, take a deep breath and don't get too worked up. Things will work out, even if at the last minute. You need to go into surgery with a clear, calm mind. Things will work out.
