Hi Julie, I have UHC, how ever they also have pre-determination, and basically it is just what they call the unit that looks at your plans specific rules to see if your appeal has actual grounds to go on, or if the plan says no matter what the reason we will not cover this procedure. As far as hoe long it takes, I went into my employers web sight and found their contract with my insurance and it stated that they must decide within 15 business days. But if they need extra time they must notify us, for an additional time limit of no longer then 45 days of extra time. So if your company(job) does not have a web site then contact your HR department and ask them about plan specifics that the have with the insurance, and they can tell you. Most have general plan rules set up like mine give or take a day or so. Hope that this helps a little...Good Luck...

It just means you are awaiting approval. This process varies from person to person, insurance company to insurance company. I was approved in two weeks. If they require a lot of documentation, it can take a while. This is probably the worse part of your weight loss journey- the waiting! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!....Karen (lap rny- 6 mons. anniversary today- down 119 pounds!)
