Question:
I recently had a stomach virus and it's caused complications...

In terms of me being able to eat more now and not dump on anything ... nor do I get that full feeling very often anymore. Also I tend to get a lot of pain in the chest whenever swallowing anything thicker than soup. As part of the virus, I had gastro, followed by the shakes and passing out and I dehyrdated so badly I almost had to be put on an IV again. How do I get over this sudden change in how my stomach operates and can you "reset" the dumpometer?    — blank first name B. (posted on May 1, 2002)

When ever I get an upset stomach (in your case) or worse I go back to the pureed diet, making sure that I get my water and protein, for 4-5 days it always seems to help me. If this continues call your DR. -- Good Luck

Yes, you can reset your dumpometer if your surgery is still intact. You have to go cold turkey on sugar, for several days. Some say for 2 weeks. But that's no milk, no applesauce, that is NO sugar, not even those considered "healthy" sugars. And yes, you will lower it right back down.
