Question:
Anyone have bcbs federal ppo refuse to pay because they had 150cm's bypassed?

I have heard a little about this on here. The lady who handles the ins. end at my surgeon's says she hasn't heard of any problems like that. My surgeon only does the 150 cm rny bypass. She said they have handled other patients with this same ins. My surgery is Feb. 5th and this has me a little worried. Please put my mind at ease. Thanks    — Kim N. (posted on January 28, 2003)

You need to talk to your Benefits person at the Personnel office is which you work. They will have to contact the BC/BS Representative, to find out if this is really covered, etc. I am in Benefits and I talked the my Agency Rep during ou open season and I found out what is and what is not covered. If you need additional info, email me. Go to my profile. :)

You can go to the BCBS website... They do have something about 150c ; if I remember correctly anything 150 and above has to be 'approved'. I know when I was doing research I had 'heard' that they didnt approve distals... so I told my doctor to make me a close to a distal as possible.. ie. 149.9 :)

I had 150cm bypassed and also have BC/BS Fed PPo and had no problems. Check with them to make sure but if you're Dr. has used them before and had no problems, surely it'll be the same now. Good luck to you!
