Question:
What is the name of the test that checks for a tear or stretched pouch?

An upper GI would allow them to see how fast things are emptying out of your pouch and give them an idea if the stoma is stretched. An endoscopy would allow them to go in and look at the stoma and pouch, but you want someone who is familiar with doing this on an RNY patient as you don't want them to screw up anything. <p>Just because you daughter can eat much less does not mean there is anything wrong with your surgery. I can eat a lot more than I ever expected to be able to. Yet some days it doesn't take much for me to be full. Every body loses at their own pace, so you really cannot compare to your daughter. Going back to total protein and small quantities, liquid or solid, will push you back into ketosis which should start the weight moving again. It will also help de-carb your system. As long as you aren't drinking large quantites of water with your food, then water should not have caused any permanent stretching. It's best to get things checked out but don't assume the worst at this point.

Its an Upper GI - also dont assume it was anything YOU did. It could be a 'failed' stoma and that is NOT something you did... its just 'fate' and the RNY.

88 pounds since Nov is great!. The problem is comparing with other, including your daughter. Each person will have a different journey and experience. Some can eat a lot while others can't. Some dump, others won't. An Upper endoscopy can show you the pouch, however make sure you have a gastro doc that knows about WLS. I worked in gastro and was surprised by the ignorance of this. For your own peace of mind, but I totally doubt you have a pouch problem. I think you're doing well.
