Question:
Is Bleaching Okay At 3 Weeks Post-Op???

I am 3 weeks post-op and was wondering if it was okay to bleach my hair for highlights. I heard some where that if there was still anesthesia in my body that it would effect the out come. Could there still be anesthesia in my system? Please help me...IS THERE ANY TRUTH TO THAT????    — Sabrina G. (posted on July 18, 2001)

Sabrina, I have never heard of anything like that. I think I was 4 weeks out when I decided to go out for a day of beauty and get my hair highlighted and get my nails done. Thank goodness I did, because now I'm 13 weeks, and my hair is starting to fall out. I would recommend doing it before you start to have hair loss.

It won't hurt to bleach your hair, especially highlights. Keep in mind though, if you start to lose hair you will want to go darker or same shade, not lighter. Lighter can make it look thinner. Highlights though will be fine.

Go get your hair colored! How do these silly stories originate? However, if your hair is thinning, I wouldn't use any harsh chemicals.
