HOW DO YOU KNOW?
HI, I AM FOUR MTHS. POST-OP AND WAS WONDERING HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOU HAVE GALLBLADDER PAIN BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN HAVING ALOT OF PAIN INDER MY LEFT BREAST AREA AND I NEVER HAVE HAD MY GALLBLADDER TAKEN OUT? THANKYOU! — Melodee S. (posted on May 22, 2003)

HI. I had my gall bladder removed in 2001 and I was having horrible pains
in the "hollow" of my ribcage...right where it connects. I
couldn't breathe, eat..nothing. it felt like a huge weight was sitting on
my chest. If you're having this kind of pain my advice is to call your
doctor asap because in my case, a stone was blocking the duct and it could
have ruptured. Take care and keep us posted.

I had horrible pain right under the breast area, it sort of felt like
someone was pulling on my bra from around the body, or that pain that you
got when you were a kid, when you used to laugh to hard or run to long, it
was a dull feeling, I didn't eat much fat if that, but the little amount
that I did eat set if off, I had my gall bladder removed at post op 8
months, I feel much better now, no pain.
Post op 12 months

Your gallbladder is on the right kind of right under your right breast in
your upper abd.

My pain was terrible. Other than not having any radiating pain down my
arms or across my back, I could have sworn I was having a heart attack.
And I was very nauseous as well.

Mine also hurt right in the center of my abdomin, right below the
sternum... It hurt SO bad that the only way I could get remotely
comfortable was to kneel down next to my bed, get in a prayer position and
then lay my head down on the bed with my arms extended across the bed...it
was excrutiating. Hurt so badly to breathe and I'd break out in a sweat in
no time. It was finally diagnosed correctly when I went to the ER with
continuous vomiting and the same pains. The good news is that once its
out, everything is all better!
