Question:
Has any allergy sufferer out there had excess mucous?

I am four weeks out and can't keep much food or water down. I'm on allergy shots and Allegra and still my pouch fills up with mucous that can't be digested. Any suggestions?    — Pamela D. (posted on June 16, 2002)

Hi! I had a problem with excess mucus at about 3 months post op. After 2 visits to the hospital and many tests I was diagnosed with mucus relux. My surgeon told me to take dimatapp. I took 1 teaspoon a day I started this on April 12 and stopped about 1 month ago and feel great. I hope this helps! Tracy

Please call your doc & be checked. If your stoma is closing off, it is relatively easily fixed if caught very early. 4 weeks IS prime time, so please don't wait to check.

I've read on the message board about a lot of people who've complained of this. They call it the foamies and it occurs usually between weeks 3 and 5 and lasts around 3 weeks or so. Keep sipping fluids and eat what you can. Good luck!

I know this can be a problem early on, especially with a really small pouch that can't hold the drainage. But I'll be a year out on Friday and I am having HORRIBLE drainage problems despite taking Allegra-D. It's really making me feel ill and I am constantly coughing from the feeling of it. I'd love to hear any solutions you find, whether it be a new medicine or something else.
