Question:
Did anyone wear contact lenses into surgery? Problems?

I was told NO CONTACT LENSES. I brought my glasses to have in my hospital room. They do not want to have to go fishing for contacts if there are any complications etc. I resumed wearing them when I go home.

I was not allowed to wear my contacts for surgery. You can have your glasses in the recovery room as soon as you want them. You will be a little dehydrated after surgery and won't want them in anyway - your eyes will be too dry.

Nope! No contacts when you have surgery. It's the rule.

General rule for any surgery is No Contacts. Why would you need them, you will sleep through it anyway.

anesthesia can cause your eyes to be dry. and dry eyes cause corneal abrasion for contact lense wearers. If you have ever suffered through an episode of corneal abrasion before, you will know to leave your contacts at home. it is painful and lasts for a couple of days. you'll have enough to deal with in that regard, without adding something as dreadful as corneal abrastion to it. Good Luck.

I am so glad you asked this! I was wondering the same thing! I am legally blind without my contacts and can't see through glasses at all. I desperately want to wear my contacts into surgery, but it looks as though it isn't an option. I am looking into getting vision correction surgery before my WLS so I don't have to deal with being blind in the hospital. I totally understand why you would want to wear your contacts.
