Question:
Anyone had burning/sharp pain down top of thighs?
I am ten days post-op from lap RNY. In addition to numbness I get shooting, burning pains in upper thighs. Meds don't help. — [Anonymous] (posted on December 16, 2001)

I can relate to that i've been having the same problem. I am 5 weeks post
op, my Dr. says it will get better that its nerves where i was on the table
so long . I POSTED THE SAME QUESTION ABUT A MONTH AGO YOU CAN LOOK FOR IT
IF YOU CAN FIND IT . Good luck and congratulations

Yes, yes, yes! I had it for the first two months. It would wake me up at
night sometimes. It will go away. Mine did ... although I can't tell you
exactly when. One day I just realized I wasn't miserable anymore! Hang in
there!

Me too! Me too! It started in one leg in the hospital and has progressed
to the other. Its driving me crazy at night. It really burns! I'm 10 days
postop and I have my follow up appointment tomorrow afternoon. If I find
out anything else, I'll post it here.

I'm so glad to see I'm not alone on this. I am only four days post-op and
have the tingling and burning in my right thigh. I have written the
surgical nurse about this. I will post her answer here when I get it. I'm
glad to hear it goes away. Right now, it's my only complaint. :-)

Could this be a reaction to anesthesia? You all are right to ask your docs,
surgeons and nurses about it though... Wishing you well...

hi i have sciatica problems in my back and if i lay flat on my back my
right leg gets sharp burning pains in the upper front thigh then my leg
goes completely numb. after my surgery being on the table and in the
hospital bed was hell on my right leg . i had that pain and parts of that
leg were tingly and numb for atleast 8 weeks . im so glad that is a part of
the past.

Here is an exact quote from my surgical nurse in regards to my question
about this type of pain:
"It sounds like a temporary nerve compression from surgery. It can
happen from the bars that run aside your thighs. It should resolve over
the next month or two. It is not uncommon." I'm just wondering why I
never heard about this before surgery.
