Question:
I don't have insurance. Does anyone have a payment plan?

I'm a single mom with limited income. I'm 75-100 pounds overweight. I'm very interest in surgery. Is there someone who can work with a person like me? I'm in Texas.    — Angela T. (posted on October 2, 1999)

Try the Texas Rehabilitation Commission. They will pay for WLS if you meet their criteris for rehabilitation. They have done it before, but I am not sure how often. It is worth a shot though. Good Luck!!

I think self-pay is too expensive for anyone. It would be cheaper by far to buy private insurance (maybe $150/mo.at most), and then cancel it, if you need to, after the surgery. Even if you had to keep it for 6 months (at most) the surgery would still only cost you less than $l000 rather than $20,000 or more for self-pay. Be sure to shop around and make sure the insurance you choose does not have an obesity exclusion. Good luck. This is what I plan to do if I am denied by my HMO.

go to www.financeit.com & ask for a booklet. They finance all kinds of surgery & treatments.
