Question:
I just found out I have a marginal ulcer.... I want to know what to expect.

I had been feeling very sick, throwing up all the time, not keeping even some liquids down. I had an endoscopy and they found a marginal ulcer. Okay... I now know what is wrong and why I have been feeling the way I do. Heres what I want to know... I will start taking carafate this evening. Can anyone tell me what to expect, when I should start feeling better... is this a sign of worse things or continuous problems to come? Any information at all would be helpful.    — Janet C. My husband had one about 30 days postie. That's it, nothing for years. I've had them repeatedly, or until my revision, actually. But then, I'd had ulcer previously (regular ones). Some of us are prone to them. Some just get a "break in" one and that's it. Now that you knokw the symptoms, you'll be on the lookout. Once you get started on your program with carrafate and Prilosec or Prevacid (whichever they gave you), you can feel relief in 48 hours. But finish the whole course of meds!
