Question:
Is insomnia a sign or dehydration?

I have had horrible insomnia and headaches since surgery. I know headaches can be a sign of dehydration, but what about insomnia? I thought I was getting in all of my water, but I guess I could be wrong.    — [Anonymous] (posted on November 28, 2001)

I dont know how long its been sibce you surgery but after I started to recover I had a sudden burst of energy 24/7 and didnt sleep well. This passed within a couple weeks and other post ops have reported the same thing. I would lay awake excited planning my lifes new activities...

I agree with Bob, I did the same thing. My supervisor at work, actually made the comment that I was making him nervous. Before surgery they couldn't get me to do anything, now they can't get me to stop. Like I told him - Don't get used to it cause it may not last. Although, I am able to move around much better than before the surgery (down 60 pounds)and my apnea is better so I don't go to work tired like I used to. Have you tried drinking sleepy time tea. Tea is suppossed to help sooth the stoma (I wouldn't know because I can't stand tea) and it is suppossed to help you sleep too.
