This came up a while back - LSS: Last Supper Syndrome. I've had my date for 2 days, and so far I have had more candybars than I did in the past 2 months and I'm starting a list of everything I want one last time before surgery (General Tzo's Chicken for lunch today). Food was never an issue to me. Suddenly in 48 hours it has become an obsession. From what I've read here before, it's not anything to really worry about unless your doctor is the kind that wants you to lose 10lbs before surgery for breathing reasons. Stop and ask yourself if you are eating everything in sight because you are afraid of what changes surgery will make, or if it's because you want to get your last chance at the things you are giving up. If you are like me and already mourning mai tais and soda, just try to be moderate (forcing myself - no more chocolate this week). I have until 4/28 to get my last everything.

Hey Theresa: I think what you are going through is very normal. I did the same thing. I had about a month of freedom and indulged myself. What I did try to do was try different things without overeating on each item. I tried foods like pie and cake that I had restricted myself for so long. And of course, had my favorite meals both at home and out. Funny thing is sometimes when you give yourself permission to eat whatever you want, sometimes it doesn't seem so important any more. I ate a lot for a couple weeks and then slowed down considerably. Be kind to yourself and don't berate yourself for eating now. You won't be able to or want to after surgery. Good Luck.

Soooooo.... happy to know I am not alone!!!!!! If it is edible... I am eating it! I have never and I mean never eaten like this. I make excuses to go to the grocery store just to enable me to find maybe that one last thing I will never be able to have again after April 26th. Last night it was a Dove Ice Cream Bar. I have never gone out of my way before to eat Ice Cream.... Oh! Maybe it was the chocolate! ;o) I decided I am going with the flow... and just ride this thing out... Glad I am not alone!

WOW!!!!!!!! You dont have to tell me about LSS...someone please tell that box of poptarts I just finished off! I am also following a "list" of things I want to eat before my big day! Tonight I am indulging in Blackened Chicken, Wild rice with mushrooms, Snow peas, Glazed carrots and coconut custard pie. My hubby will be fat by the time I have my surgery......lol I also think it has alot to do with why we eat...it is comforting...and who doesnt need comforting before a surgery! Look out Hagen Daaz......here I come!

Honey, I think most of us go through this. We are so stressed about the surgery, plus the fact that we know we are going to be able to eat all this junk after the surgery. It is a emotional thing, most of us eat out of emotional stress anyway. I gained 5 pounds waiting on my day of surgery. I got my date at the beginning of February and didn't have the surgery until Feb 27. Good thing I only had to wait one month. But if I had known then what I know now, I probably would have tried harder to watch what I ate. It only means that the more you put on before surgery, the more you're going to have to lose after surgery. Good luck to you
