Question:
5'4" and 276.. Do You Think 135 Is Attainable?

I am 5'4" and currently 276, down from my high of 291 in january, my surgery is scheduled for sept 12th. My first goal is to be under 260 (myhusbands weight) 2nd goal is to be under 200lb and then i will be happy with anything under 175. but my dream weight is 135, do you think that is reasonably attainable?    — s H. I have similiar stats to you ... I'm 5'4" and started at 270. I'm currently at 143, but am scheduled for a TT on Tuesday, July 1. My Plastic Surgeon plans to take 6-8 pounds off of me .. That will put me real close to 135. It is possible. Good luck to you!

Hello, Not just yes, But YES<YES<YES. I am 5'4" and started at 270 pounds, now 10 months after my surgery I am 160 and my goal is 134, 26 pounds to go. The weight loss is much slower now, but still weight loss is weight loss. Good luck and reach - you can change your stars. Leeann Norton 10 months post-op

I agree with the other posts, but really it will depend on your age, determination and body frame. I am 54, 5'2" and started at 272 after losing my 10%. My goal is 165 because that is the lowest I could remember being in forever. Now 9 months later I weigh 172 and am rethinking my goal, maybe 150, but who knows.

Hi Nancy! I sure do think it is attainable. I am 5'4" and started out at 297 wearing a 22/24. I am now 133 and wear size 2 jeans and small top. However, I do think rather than setting far off goals it is good to set smaller ones as you go, but YES you can do it!

While I think setting goals and achieving them are GREAT; I despise the fact that we are all still ruled by the scale. If you look fantastically thin at 145, do you still "need" to see that 135? Would you still be happy? I hope so! Because you probably will look great. I would hope that your goal is just to be healthy (and look great too, a little pride & vanity never hurt)! and not determined by a machine that weighs us; usually produces a number that is not always correct and causes so much obsession/frustration. Perhaps just buying a goal outfit would be a good idea. Once you fit into it, you've reached your goal- as long as you continue to fit into it, you're maintaining- and the minute you don't, that's when you get concerned. Scales (and our weight, due to water, periods, plateaus and whatnot) are not a consistant form of measurement. Toss the scale!

That sounds like a reasonable goal. Preop I was 294 ( I am also 5'4 ) but I will be happy if I get in the 150 range because I am big framed. Good Luck

You never know! It varies so much from person to person! Depends on a wide variety of factors, many of which are known and some which may not be. I started at 266 and am at 155 at 2 years post-op and have stabilized there. With plastics I think I could get to 145, but was denied. There are many here who have posted that they have gotten to 135, but my personal feeling is that there are more of us who don't with this general height and starting weight. I feel great and am so appreciative of the surgery. I hope you meet your goals and feel great!
