Question:
What is going on with my hands - cramping & twitching

I had surgery on August 22nd (lap RNY) and approximately a month after surgery I started noticing that my hands were cramping (thumb and forefinger mainly cramping under my other fingers) and then later in the early evening throughotu the evening my fingers would start moving. They twitched sideways and I can watch the muscles in my hands moving. I also seem to have no strength in my hands anymore - opening any kinda jar is getting to be a chore - even ones that I have tightened. Any advice? I have an appointment with my doctor but this is really starting to wig me out.    — Elizabeth A. (posted on October 15, 2001)

When this happened to me , my calcium , b12, and iron were low. Everything is fine now. Make sure you are drinking enough water.

I don't have an answer for you but I'm certainly glad you asked the question. I have what I thought was a pulled muscle in the front part of my calf. But I didn't do anything to pull a muscle. And my legs ache so bad at night I've been taking pain pills. I never brought it up to my doctor because I didn't want to complain (I complain about so many other things) but I will certainly tell him about it now.
