Question:
I am pre-op and wonder should I start supplementing protein now?

I am 34 y/o 5'5 and 266 pounds. My hair thinned in the front following both of my pregnancies. I wonder should I start to supplement with protein now in an attempt to head off potential hair loss again. Each time it grew back but not as thick as before. My surgery will probably be in March 2003.    — nat J. (posted on November 22, 2002)

In my support group, they encouraged protein supplements prior to surgery because I believe they stated it helped in healing. We also will be having protein tasting party in December, that is when I am going to purchase and make after I try several and decide which ones I like.

I would start them now. My hair had started coming out at a couple of months post op. As soon as I started taking Real Meals it stopped. It has all of your daily protein and some combination of biotin and vitamins to prevent the hair loss. It also has lean mass stimulators to prevent sagging skin. They have a website for post ops at www.protein-solution.com
