Question:
LAP incisions red and infected

I awoke today to stained clothes and have found 3 of my incisions are oozing yellow puss. I am seeing my doctor today. No real fever but my blood sugar is up. This happen to anyone else? They hurt and it has unnerved me.    — bob-haller (posted on August 9, 2001)

Funny, I just got back from the doctor. I was oozing some really smelly stuff and called and they saw me right away. The nurse said it was badly infected and that I had a pocket of pus in there. She had to probe around with a long q-tip and try and pull it all out, for about 45 minutes. Let me tell you it hurt like heck. Then the doc came in and poked some more and he packed it up with gauze. He told me to shoot peroxide in the hole with this syringe and to pack it daily. I don;t think I am going to be able to do this so I am calling them tomorrow. My first sign of infection was that my sugars were like 260 and they had been like 140 since surgery on 7/22/03. So yep I have the same problem as you my friend.
