What Kind of questions do they ask in the Psyc. Eval??

HI, I WAS VERY NERVOUS ALSO, SO I KNOW HOW YOU ARE FEELING.
THE EVALUATION WASNT BAD THOUGH, THE DOCTOR GAVE ME A QUESTIONARE TO
COMPLETE AT HOME AND I HAD TO MAIL IT IN, BEING HONEST WAS THE TOUGHEST
PART THOUGH, I WAS HONEST AND I DONT REGRET IT. THERE WERE ALOT OF FINISH
THE SENTENCE QUESTIONS,I FOUND THESE PARTICULARLY HARD, THE DOCTOR SAID NOT
TO OVERTHINK IT, JUST ANSWER THEM AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN, I DO WISH I WOULD
HAVE DONE THAT! JUST RELAX YOU WILL BE FINE!

You know, simple things, like: have you ever tried frying a hamster? Do you
like to cut yourself with sharp objects? do voices tell you to kite checks
at 7-11 for a bag of Doritos and a half gallon of ice cream? Are small
animals in your neighborhood disappearing and do you know anything about
it? Have you stopped beating your spouse yet? Do you know the date and who
the President is? Can you count backwards by 7's? Do you hate yourself for
being fat? Will you have this surgery and then blow out your new stomach
by compulsively eating the entire dim sum section of the Chinese buffet
restaurant? Do you have sexual thoughts about Emeril? Exactly how obsessed
are you with the pursuit of a really good leg of lamb? Do you have a life
that exists outside of the cooking channel? Have you ever masterbated to
the sound and smell of frying baloney? Just the typical routine questions
any shrink would ask someone who is about to lay naked under bright lights
and be gutted like a fish by a complete stranger...don't worry...

Merri, you crack me up!!! You DO have an imagination. When I went they
had me fill out paperwork that had questions like, have I ever abused
drugs, been abused, tried to commit suicide, etc. Pretty to the point
questions. Then they went over all of the questions and talked more about
them. They did say that there is a high percentage of sexual abuse among
the MO. But of course not all. I found that to be interesting. Then they
asked questions pertaining to the surgery, did I completely understand what
they were going to do, had me explain the surgery, eating habits post-op.
Asked me if I could think of any issues that I may have following the
surgery, if I had a support system in place, how my husband felt about the
surgery, blah blah blah. I was a nervous wreck going in there, and all for
some simple questions. Try to relax, and be honest. Oh, and they do touch
on the subject of depression, which seems to be a common factor among the
MO. Good luck.

My clinical psychologist didn't give me a written test she just spoke to
me. I think they are just making sure you are doing it for the right
reasons health ect. and that you understand it is lifelong and you're not
to depressed to properly follow your postop diet. Also they may be looking
for binge eaters because they could harm themselves if they don't get
treated for that first.
