Question:
Is scar tissue build up normal?

I am almost 5 months post op. The last time i was to see the doc I was told on one spot on the belly right under the incision line I had a build up of scar tissue. It was normal and nicely healed incision. In the past week I have noticed right at that spot I have developed what i think is a hematoma It is dark in color and is raised like puffy and the top skin in that area has thinned out. And still hard around the edges and a bit red and at times sore. Has anyone experienced this? I think it is weird at almost 5months and i don't see my doc for another two weeks. Thanks to anyone who can shed some sense on this one.    — [Anonymous] (posted on January 29, 2002)

I am experiencing this currently. I didn't think it was anything to be alarmed by, just part of the scarring process, but it's certainly annoying. Since I'm not in pain I was going to bring it up at my next follow up. But I will be very interested to see what answers and insights you get! Hope this works out!
