Anita You did not say what you consider a large amount of food, and what kind of foods are you eating? Are you getting any exercise in? even a walk around the block can make you system perk up and start burning calories. I have no answers about your pouch being to big, but am wondering how many ounces a meal you can get in. If it is really excessive you may want to make a real effort to cut back, because yes pouchs can stretch Best of Luck

Talk to your doctor, definitely. At eight weeks post-op, I was eating about 2 tablespoons of food and only very specific foods would even stay down. Is there any chance you could have a staple line disruption or other problem?

I AM 6 WEEKS POST OP AND I CAN HARDLY EAT 2 OUNCES OF FOOD AT A TIME AND I HAVE LOST 40 POUNDS. I WOULD REALLY TALK TO THE SURGEON AND MAKE SURE YOU DONT HAVE A STAPLE LINE DISRUPTION OR SOMETHING . .I HOPE THIS HELPS AND GOOD LUCK

I am 7 weeks out today and I haven't been able to eat anything in the past 3 days - 3 or 4 bites and I feel like I am full and about to bust. I'm frustrated in the other direction....I just feel like I need to be nourishing my body in SOME fashion. I bet I had a total of 1000 calories over the 3-day weekend. GRRRRRR - which is worse?

Just curious...you don't say what do you consider a *large* amount of food? At eight weeks I could easily eat 3- 4 ounces (volume) of food, which after hearing "I can eat only a few bites and I am stuffed" by so many people, I thought hat was too much. Now, at 3.5 months I still only eat 4 ounces, and have never once felt sick from overeating. Also, plateaus are also quite normal in the second month, your body may be adjusting. If you have concern, speak to your surgeon, but I wouldn't panic right away. I was not an early fast-tracker, but I am now losing faster than ever and on set to lose over 80 lbs by my four month anniversary. The point is, different people are different - how much we can eat, how we lose, when we lose, where we lose, what foods we can eat, etc. Good luck to you, and again call your surgeon if you think something may physically be wrong. Take care, Paula :)

It depends on what a large amount is. I was concerned about this also (I am 10 weeks postop). It depends on what you eating, the amount of time it takes you to eat it, it's consistencey, the size of your stoma. A lot of different variations. I was never like those people who say they can only eat one or two bites. I eat about six/seven ounces at a time (depending on the day) and I have never vomitted. (I've been uncomfortably full though.) As long as I am losing, I try not to worry about it. However, if you have stopped losing, I would talk to your doctor, he may suggest you do the cottage cheese test.
