Question:
Any comments on Pacific Bariatric?

As this is one of the three places I will be sent to have surgery, I was just wondering if any patients that have used this hospital would be interested in sharing their experience? So far, I have heard only good things about this hospital and it's Doctors. The other two places I may go are Kaiser Hospital in Harbor City, or UCLA. PB is wonderful. The hospital they use is Scripps Mercy which is rated one of the best in the nation and is right across the street from the PB clinic. Lots of people from this area are referred to either UCLA or PB and I here the best from PB patients. I would choose them if I had to choose again. The nurses on the surgical floor at SM are wonderful. They see this surgery all the time, about 40 were done the week I was there. The waiting list is smaller than at UCLA too from what I heard. It was only 3 months from my first appt. to surgery and it would have been 2 1/2 but my schedule dictated my surgery date. Good luck to you.

I had my surgey by Dr Tanaka on New Years Eve 2001. Scripps Mercy Hospital was a dream come true! I had a Bari-bed at my disposal (it stood me up when I needed to get out of bed) and the staff had so much experience with the surgery that they really understood what we were going through. I walked the halls with all the other WLS patients and we would stop and talk about our experience - I felt very accepted and understood - which is a rarity for us larger folks (385 post-op) As I left - one of the older Nuns helped my husband and I out - showed us the chapel - and prayed for me. I felt very cared for. I made lifetime friends while I was there and will stay in contact with they for a long time.

I also had my surgery New Years Eve 2001 with me new friend for life Michele! I had a private room and the nurses where super. I was worried because some friends prior that year had nurses from hell. PB is wonderful. Lots of the staff have had this surgery done, some 15 years ago!! They are kind and the Dr's are fantastic. I was very pleased with everything.

I had my surgery 11-15-01 with PB. I couldn't even describe how great they are. And Scripps Hospital and their entire staff was fantastic. I don't have one bad thing to say about any of my experience with PB.
