You must wait at least 6 weeks or until you feel much better. DO NOT try until 6 weeks though...it will hurt!

You should talk to your dr. If I remember right I was told at either my 2 or 4 week visit I could resume sex using "good Judgement" I guess swinging from the chandeliers was out, LOL

My preOp package stated something crazy like 3 months, but when I asked I was told 10 days and that sounded much better.

The funniest answer I've ever heard to this question was 'wait at least until you get home from the hospital'. My doctor said use good judgment--usually a few days.

It was our tummy, right? Not girl-parts! I waited two weeks. My doc said, "wait, until you feel you can do it- if it hurts, stop!"

I think whether you have lap or open surgery makes a difference, but I had lap surgery and we waited a week or so and the first time was uncomfortable for me. It will depend on how fast your body heals.

I had open RNY and I believe that we waited until the staples came out (so about 2 weeks, give or take a day or so). Just judge your own comfort, if you are in a position that stresses your tummy and hurts either stop or play with different positions until you find one that works. Enjoy!!!

The best thing to do is ask your doctor. Every doctor does things a little differently. However, after about two weeks, after your staples/sutures/drains are out and your not quite as sore...if the mood strikes, try a position that doesn't put any pressure directly on your incision. Tell your partner to be gentle and take it slow. There will be plenty of opportunities for more vigorous lovemaking after you're 100% healed and recuperated. Good luck!!

Someone said . . . <<You must wait at least 6 weeks or until you feel much better. DO NOT try until 6 weeks though...it will hurt!>> TO which I reply . . . BULL! We (I) waited a week. No pain, no probs! Choose a position that does not involve him laying on top of you . . . be cautious, and have a good time!
