Question:
Does anyone know of an over the counter headace medicine?

I am 6 weeks post op and have been getting headaches, I did get them frequently before as well. Is there a pill out there that anyone takes that is absorbed right away? I already take so many crushed pills a day I can't bear to add another to my daily regimen. Thanks.    — jane O. (posted on August 12, 2003)

I don't know about pills, but I use liquid Tylenol. Got it over the counter at Wal-Mart. It's with the rest of the Tylenol. Works for me. :)

Be aware that Liquid Tylenol (adult strength) is sweetened with corn syrup and thus may cause someone to dump. There are other brands of acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol) that may be available in sugar-free liquid form (Tempra is one)...JR

Hi Janet, I am now 6 mths. post op and I get migraine headaches, but I got them before I even had this surgery too. I take immtrex when I get one, and they are real small pills, but if I just get a slight headache then I take extra stregnth tylenol for the pain, and that usually takes care of it, unless it turms into a migraine. Anyway, you can get liquid form extra strength tylenol too so you might want to try that! Good Luck to You!

Hi! I take Percogesic. It is Tylenol based and easy on the tummy. Works well too. As for a prescription drug I take Axert for migraines. 30 minutes and migraine gone!

I've used the Excedrin tabs that dissolve and they work great. No aspirin either, so it's okay for us to use. Pre-surgery, Excedrin was the only thing that helped my headaches, so I was glad to find that the ones that dissolve were not off-limits.

Tylenol makes a liquid version. My surgeon actually had be take this for pain after I had a reaction to the codene right after surgery. You can get this at Rite Aid, Walgreen's, CVS, etc.

WARNING- Liquid Tylenol can make you dump in a big way! I did. I would ask your doctor about the meds that he/she recommends.

I take regular extra strength tylenol caplets. I usually only need to take 1 and it works within 15 minutes, just cut it in 1/2. Take half, wait a few minutes then take the other half. Good Luck!

Those new Excedrine tablets that melt in your mouth have been a godsend!! They work fast and I can take them anywhere....they do NOT contain aspirin like regualr Excedrine...they are the same compound as Tylenol.
