Question:
Are you getting compliments?

I recently started a job. No one here knew of my surgery so when I came into the job I was skinny. Yesterday the division was laughing at a picture of one of the girls and how she had her hair done. My boss (who I love to death) asked me about myself and I was very proud to pull out the "before" picture of me. He gasped and couldn't believe it. He showed everyone in my division and everyone was said the same thing "that's not you!" It made me feel so good about myself. You know, since I've had this life saving surgery (and I truly say life saving) my whole outlook on life has changed. Anyone else feeling the same?    — dolphins94 (posted on January 10, 2003)

Yes, I get lots of compliments now, especially from those who haven't seen me in a little while and notice the weight loss. At first, it was almost embarrassing as I am one who never liked attention focused in my direction, and also, I never really believed those who complimented me as my own self-esteem was so low. All that has changed and now I am very self-confident and know that I look good. I agree that this surgery is life saving, not just physically but psychologically/mentally too.

That same thing happened to me today! One of my friends whipped out a picture from a year ago, and went around showing people at work saying "Doesn't she look GOOD now?" heehee it was nice! (8/7/02 -100)

Yes, it feels great! The other day I played Copy Queen in the office for 1.5 hours and teachers kept coming in and telling me how great I look. It was the first time I've gotten so many compliments in one day and it felt FANTASTIC! Nothing like a day of compliments to encourage one to keep following The Rules. :-) This surgery and it's results have really increased my overall view of myself. Doin the happy dance with you all!

Be honest, working with women is usually a big pain, even if you are a woman! BUT my lovely co-workers (majority have no weight problems and I was the fatty) have been so supportive of me. They all tell me constantly how great I look, ask me if it's a new outfit, etc. and is it smaller, etc. so much that I get embarassed sometimes. They are so wonderful. Of course, I have my own little cheering crowd at home with my husband who tells me I'm smaller each and every day. I love this!!! I hope everyone gets such support.

This was my exact experience, only I showed them my profile so they could read what I have gone thru. Most folks at first refused to believe it was me. Part of my reason for showing them was to quench ANY making fun of fat people around me, and also to build trust with my new team. It sure was fun to get the complements too!

Fun Question, well let see aside from my friends that can't get over how much weight I loss and are constantly fawning over me (I love that!). For New Years Eve I bought my dream red glitter strapless party dress in a size 6, the 25 year old cutie pie I was dancing with told me I had the body of a 20 year old! I had to tell him that I only wished I had this body when I was 20...ROFL...I'm now 40 years old and I have never been this thin or this happy with my body, I even have a flat stomach and that's without a tummy tuck...I'm happy, happy, happy.

Good Subject! I feel so good about myself also expecially when others notice the new me and I dont. Its so encouraging to know how many people are now accepting this surgery as our way of getting healthy and in the process of gettting healthier we are looking better too (nothing wrong with that right) I was just yapping with my aunt telling her that I went to lunch yesturday I was walking in and people were sitting on the outside eating their lunch as i walked by i was looking for a friend and noticed 3 men staring at me smiling lol..there heads followed me....owe what a ego booster, I smiled and walked by with my head held high it was such a rush to be noticed as a woman and not that fat lady i was a year ago. People are always telling me how good i look and the more they tell me this the more i feel better about myself.....not only do we change from the outside but on the inside we can see a whole new world out there which makes us glow and shine, now the world can see us for who we really are, happy healthy people .......its amazing isnt it?

No, not yet, that's because my surgery is in the next couple of days, however, people who know I am getting the surgery are telling me that they know I will look nice. Because I have a nice shape and a pretty face. I can't wait!! My surgery is on the 16th of this month!
