Question:
Any last minute advice for my rapidly approaching surgery day?
I am haveing surgery on July 24th, 2000 at the VA. Commanwealth Univ. Hosp. My surgeon will be Dr. John Kellum. I am haveing a revision surgery from a vertical banded gastroplasty to a RNY. I went to my preop day yesterday and it really hit me that this is actually going to happen. I am starting to get anxious and nervous. Any advice for me. I am sure I will not sleep any the nite before at all. Right now I have a dry scratchy throat and cough. I am chugging the cough medicine and trying to feel really good. I'm sorry I don't have any practical experience to share with you, since I
am just starting my "path to surgery" But, I was reading this
morning and found this verse to be a great comfort and hoped that it might
be calming to you also. Good luck, you'll be in my prayers.

I had surgery with Dr. Kellum on August 18, 1999. I have now lost 154
pounds. He is a great surgeon, I have full confidence in him as a doctor,
and you are going to do great. Good luck!

Hi,
My name is Charlene Green, I am having surgery on July 24, 2000 at 9:30AM
but I have to report to the hospital by 7:30AM. I think it has set in on
me that I am having surgery and I have adjusted to it just knowing that the
waiting is over. I know that along the way I was saying things like I
can't wait till that day is here. Well it is around the corner and I don't
have any plans of turning back. So everyone that has surgery on July 24,
2000 let's all go into this together, and come out together. It will be
fun to talk about this once we cross over. I wish you well on Monday. I
know that you are scared, and I am not gonna say that I am not? I have
just accepted that it is going to happen. When we are a week or two out
please email me I would love to hear your experience as I will tell you
mine. See you on the other side.
