Question:
I have read a few posts where people talk about taking gas meds to the hospital

My surgeon never said anything about bring gas meds or tums or anything like that to the hospital with me. Is this something that I need to do? I have having my surgery in 2 weeks and I want to make sure that I am as prepared as I can be. Thanks a bunch.    — Tami S. (posted on July 10, 2003)

taking gas meds to the hospital is not required. If your gas is bad (and it is especially if you have lap) let the nurses know. There is medicine provided for this if needed. I had open and had no gas problems but my best friend had lap(well they ended up having to do open but they tried lap) and her gas was terrible and painful.

No, don't bring any meds to the hospital, they make you turn them into the pharmacy who then takes over distributing them to you so that your meds are being managed fully - its all about liability.

I would'nt take meds to the hospital ether. You tell them what you are on and THEY supply them. The gas meds for home is a MUST! You will probally need them at home.
