Sue, the pain on your left side can be attributed to many things, but I have one that many people don't think about. Where is the pain on your left side? Is it more in the abdomen area or back area? If so, think about whether you are "regular" when it comes to your stools. I know, gross topic, but since my surgery I find that I get constipated very easily and therefore I have to take stool softeners. Otherwise I can horrible pains in my left abdomen and left back area, which is where the colon usually gets "stopped" up. If you take any iron or any medications that can cause your stools to harden, you might be more likely to have the complications after your surgery. BUT, like I said, pain on the left side can be attributed to many things, so I would ask your doctor if my scenario is not the answer.
