Question:
I have redness on two of my incisions,is this normal?

How do you tell if they are infected,it has been 5days since my surgery,I had Lap-Rny.Can I put antibacterial ointment on them,or should I wait to see if the redness spreads?    — flutterby (posted on November 22, 2005)

Hi Debra - It's not uncommon to have those incisions get infected. DON'T wait for the redness to spread! Call your surgeon to make sure you should use a cream anti-biotic, or something else. They also may want to see you.

Hi Debra - I would not put anything on it yourself. I made this mistake just putting hydrogen peroxide on my wounds because they looked red and it made them scab awfully bad. If you are concerned I would suggest contacting your doctor. Kim
