You don't have to eat cottage cheese to lose weight...or drink protein either...but you do need to eat healthy lean protein and limit the sides of potato, rice, pasta and bread...and SUGAR! I find that the more visually pleasing my food, the more I enjoy eating healthy over not so healthy. I aim for color on my plate! The only white I like to see is my meat (chicken or pork or fish usually) The rest I go bright colors...green salads or veggies, with orange carrots or squash, sweet potatoes, red tomatoes or peppers, purple berries etc! ...Occassionally I will have a 1/4 c of rice or cous cous or whole grain sides. Eating now is something I take my time doing. I will go out of my way to make it look as well as it will taste...I don't look for instant gratification in my food because that often lead me to standing at the cupboard shoveling in food that was high fat, sugar, carbs and calories just to feel that instant fullness. If I make a piece of baked fish...I add fresh dill and mango salsa and fresh lemon slices....I quick fry yellow and green squash in onions and tomatoes with a spritz of olive oil and a sprinkle of parmesean cheese....I make a salad and take time to cut up a variety of veggies and spritz with a low fat balsamic vinegar dressing or a lite asian dressing...Or salad spritzers for only 1 calorie per spray! (Loaded flavor too!) For later I may have some berries with vanilla yogurt mixed into some cool whip or SF vanilla pudding for a really great little dessert...So it takes a little time to prepare...But I am sooooo worth it! So are you! Take that cottage cheese and put some peaches or pureed strawberries on top with some cool whip and a cherry and some walnuts or pecans! It doesn't quite seem like cottage cheese (or SF pudding if you can't do cottage cheese) anymore, but like a sundae instead! Half the battle of maintaining weight or losing it is pleasing your head and eyes, as well as your pouch. Stepping up the exercise helps too...If you can eat, then burn off some extra calories...If your pouch is stretched, there is not much you can do except shrink it and stick to THE plan that works.(being on track with basic pouch rules) You can still lose some more weight, but you do have to make an effort...You are beginning to see that this is not "the easy way out"....Your tool is in your hands now...You can abuse it as you have seen...but you can use it just as easily. It still has HUGE advantages that people without WLS do not have...Easy though? No way! You will have to work at it and make more serious life changes. Get on top of those 3 lbs before they become 3 more...You can do this! make some new rules and boundaries...set limits for yourself! Work out extra when you decide to make a not so great food choice! I wish you much luck! You still have some good honeymoon time....so turn this around now ...Hugs!

While I have not had a problem losing the weight, I have noticed that I can eat almost anything and quite a bit of it. I know I have stretched my pouch but we are supposed to over time. As long as you're not gaining I wouldn't worry. I have been on a plateau for about 2 months but I'm not gaining. However, I have noticed that if I increase my protein alot I will lose a few pounds but then I plateau again. Good luck to you and I hope somebody else can given you better advice than I have.

You have choices to make. Just because we can eat anything doesn't mean we should. You have to choose. Congrats on your 68 pounds, and if you will diet and exercise and drink water you can still lose more. It takes courage, but I tink you have that, I challenge you to get on course and be faithful. Take care. Patricia P.

I had RnY in April of 05 and did well for about a year, lost about 90-94 lbs. I sort of fluctuated between those two amounts. So I stalled for a year, could not lose any more, and then just started gaining. I was still exercising and eating right most of the time. I was no angle, but I back down in my eating and the weight kept going up. Something was wrong. I went to see my doc and he suggested I needed a revision. I searched here at OH and decided I wanted a revision to a DS, and that is my new goal, to save some money and get my DS, the weight loss surgery I wish I had picked the first time around, better eating, better sustained weight loss, eat more variety, and to get rid of diabetes once and for all, and I still have sleep apnea to get rid of. I wish you well.
