Have you ever used priceline.com for hotel rooms? i have between 10-15 times and have always gotten great rooms at great prices. But for the record i would NOT recommend using priceline for flights, i have three times and had bad experiences each time. Art, BTC employees might have the best advice for you regarding hotel rooms. You could call and ask them for the name and address of hotels nearby or ones they recommend. Once you get that information do some online checking on finding discount prices for that particular hotel. If you want to email me i can give you some of the sites that have worked the best for me. like i said, priceline has always gotten me the best hotel rooms. but in your case you'll probably want to choose a specific hotel in a specific location. Good luck to you!!

Here another vote for priceline.com. I have used it sucessfully dozens of times and have always been pleased with the price and the hotel. For more information on bidding through priceline you may want to check out the board www.biddingfortravel.com. In fact, we did use it for my husband when I had my surgery. I stayed the first night with him because I had to be at the hospital so early.

I had my surgery in November at BTC in Belvidere. I don't remember the name of the motel I stayed in though. Sorry. I contacted BTC and they told me what motel was close to the hospital and that gave a slightly discounted rate. I do remember that the motel was on the same street as BTC, only a few miles down the road farther. Just mention when you make your reservations that BTC recommended them. Good luck on your upcoming surgery! Paulette

I called around to reserve a room, in Reno for Memorial Day weekend (Hub & I are seeing Elvis Costello- I am so excited). The Casino I wanted quoted me a 2 night min. @ $140 a NIGHT! Yikes! I went to Travelocity and booked 1 room at the same Casino for $60, and only for 1 night (and it was a SATURDAY!!!). Mind you, this is pretty far in advance- but I think these online travel companies have certain agreements with hotels and are able to discount a great deal because they have pre-purchased a "block" of rooms- so they can sell at any price that makes them money. Good luck! Usually hotels around surgery centers or hospitals have a good deal for people who need to stay over. I know the Hospital in Reno had a "hotel" of sorts attached to it for people who needed to stay. The costs were extremely low.

We stayed in Rockford. The Extended Stay America has rates of $45.00 a night. We stayed at the Ramada Suites on Bell School Rd. We were very impressed with our stay.
