OMG HOW DO YOU STOP THE GAS?

My dietician was very specific on how to drink after surgery. She said to avoid swallowing air that you need to take a drink after you breath out and before taking your next breath. I know...it seemed impossible for me also, but once you get the hang of it..it will become second nature. I do not have alot of air or trapped gas when drinking. Give it a try..it might take you a couple of days or weeks to learn or re-learn how to drink, but I think it will be worth it to try. Good luck. Paula

watch also what you are eating --- i can't manage the pre-packed protein drinks as they made me immediately feel bloated... also make sure you aren't blending things that are gas causing beans - cabbage - potato etc... it's all a learning process one day at a time... gk

Try the chewable gas-x. It is stronger than the strips.I know you said you are at work, but walking really is the biggest help

You need gas medicine with simethicone (sp?) it is what gets rid of the gas. Remember no straws and chew chew chew your food. Good luck.

I was going to mention to not use straws because that puts air in your pouch. Also, if you're drinking soft drinks which is not encouraged, let them sit for five to ten minutes before you drink them to get rid of the fizz.

Probiotics help me! They keep a healthy balance of flora(bacteria) in your intestines...Bacteria is a lot of what causes gas...and bad bacteria LOVES LOVES LOVES sugar and simple carbs...Cut back on those and take probiotics and you have a long term fix! At least that has been my experience! Some food cause gas too...like broccoli, cabbage, mushrooms, peas and beans...milk and cheeses (especially awful if you are lactose intolerant)...Then for some of us sugar alcohols cause wicked nasty smelly gas! I cannot eat most SF sweeteners anymore...It can set my body into a good week or two worth of the worst smelly gas...(sleep in the guest room, kinda gas)...LOL You can find probiotics everywhere! I have no idea which brands are best...I usually go to Vitamin shoppe and get what they suggest or I stick to yogurt daily...when I am not eating yogurt (I get a little sick of it now and then) I take a probiotic! They are wonderful for many reasons besides gas...Look it up!

I have found an item called Digestive Advantage, they have different purposes but I use the one for gas called Gas defense formula. It is supposed to be better than something like Gas-x because it works with probiotics already in it and it works to stop the flatulence, bloating and pressure that is trapped within the intestines. I take it on a daily basis because it helps prevent so much , I find that I had gas even when I had not had anything to eat and this helps more than anything I found. My son sees a pediatric GI who prescribed him to take Align and it has helped his gas and diarrhea tremendously, they are still trying to find out the stuff wrong with him but this has helped until they can get the rest of the testing for celiac and stuff done.

I had more gas at first... it will get better as your intestine heals. Take it slowly and back off of foods that cause this. Try them again weeks later.
