why is my blood suger creeping back up?

Hello,
I'm two week tom, ryn and diabetic for 12 years, insulant. I came home
from the hopital and running 148-175, now there up to 189 and one was 212
fasting. I would like to know the answe to this to, I havn't even started
mush food yet.

I was diabetic for 10 years. Came home from surgery 5/29 with no insulin
but still taking 1000 metformin twice a day. Lowered it to 500 twice a day
at 4 weeks out and dropped it at 60 weeks out. NOrmal BS for 2 weeks, now
creeping back up and I use 500 metformin once in a while. I try to
exercize a lot to bring it down. Usually this works but not everytime. I
am watching closely...haven't needed pill today. I pray a lot that God
would keep my sugars low. I am sure he is working on it. Lyn

NK -- at three weeks post, what are you eating, if anything? Could the
sugar content in what you're taking in (like fruit juice, for example) be
spiking you? On the other hand, you might be having what my PCP calls a
"liver leak" -- you're not eating much of anything, so your liver
is pumping sugar into your system to make up for it. I get that sometimes
in the morning, if I haven't eaten enough the night before. As Hala
posted, though, call your doctor to be sure. Blessings --

My husband and I are both 7 months post op RNY gastric bypass. We both were
insulin dependent diabetics. This also happen to use when we discuss this
with the surgeon as well with our PCP they both said our bodies have been
through MAJOR surgery and our blood surgery will be on a roll a coaster for
a few months. They advised us to keep and eye on it shich we both did. Now
7 months later neither one of us take ANY type of diabetics meds. Good luck

You need to call your Diabetes doctor the sooner the better! RNY does
eventually take care of the diabetes but you may need some sliding scale
coverage until then - good luck - Linda
