Question:
Does your BM's stink so bad after your RNY, people can't stand it.

Only if I get in the carbs . . . if you're eating lots of sugars (of *any* kind, including milk, fruit, sugar alcohols) or grains, flours, potatoes, etc, you're feeding the sulfur producing buds in the gut. They eat undigested carbs, and they make sulphurous gas, and you make *music and flowers*. :o) Try cutting out carbs, and take a course of refrigerated probiotics (health food store), especially one that is called reuteri . . . take them 2-3 times a day for a week, on an empty stomach, and wait a while (1 hour?) before eating. It helps for some of us. For occasional use, you can take Devrom. But take it with the food, and only occasional . . . I'm not convinced of it's longterm safety. Good luck!

Depending on what I eat, I think the smell is a little worse than before surgery, but it is not that bad. I mean its not going to smell like roses. I hope you are not using that as an excuse not to have surgery. It's not that big of a deal.

To be blunt Yesssssssss and 99% of us do. I am four years Post-op and it doesnt matter where you go MR. NJ I thought you were rather Rude. Anyway to the point. Yes and it is because of how your body now digests foods. Remember the first part of your small intestine is mostly gone so you dont absorb as much out of food as you did before so it comes out lets say not as filtered mabey is the way to put it...*smiles* But also I find that sticking to mostly proteins and water cuts down on that almost completely carbs and milk products will be your worst culprits. Hope I helped. Your WLS sister Jo Michalko

I only have a problem if I'm eating junk (refined carbs, high fat). It general, it's no better or worse than before.

I think you pose a GREAT question..I think anything to do with our bodies after WLS should be open for questions and discussions, including our BM's!! I support your question as well. Mr. NJ this board is for open and honest discussion about anything and everything pertaining to WLS. Your sister on the board!
