Question:
Does anyone have B/C/B/S Federal Employee Program of AL?
I have b/c/b/s fed. emp. pro. of AL and I had my first consultation this past Mon. (1/23) and I am sitting on pins and needles waiting for an approval. The doctor said that he would let me know when I was "pre-certified" so we can set a surgery date. Didn't he mean "pre-approval" instead?? So far I have read some positive things about this insurance. But, I still am nervous about being approved. I went on the required 6 month supervised diet and I have medical records showing I have severe leg swelling and pain (from a previous break of the Tibia and fibula). My weight is 271 and Height is 5'9. Does anyone out there with this same insurance think there is a chance of me getting approved? Also,how do I prove that I have not smoked 8 weeks prior to surgery?--which is also a requirement.Thanks a bunch !!! — WannaBSlim (posted on January 26, 2006)

you have done your home work well and are prepared for approval, I am
pettiioning Tricare for a DS, similar insurance, in fact I m qoating that
it covers the DS while Tri does does not and is based on the same
entiltiling law. You might want to visit the DS forum and check out the DS
surgery option, learn about the difference, its a lifetime choice.

I have BC/CS Federal of WV and it has paid for everything with a small
co-pay picked up by my husband's insurance. I have three other friends who
have also used BC/BS Fed and have had no problems what-so-ever. I would
think they could do a blood test to see what amount of nicotine is in your
blood. I am 3 years out and lost 150 pounds, my life is so wonderful now.

I have BCBS with fed & from what I know Tx, Mich, Miss,Tenn and Ky. all
have approved of Rny on first letter. hopfully Alabama will be another. All
Federal insurence BCBS have the same standerd policy throughout the U.S.

I have b/cb/s fed. of N.J. My first appt. with surgeon was on Dec. 7,05 and
was approved and had RNY on 1/16/06. They
require 100lbs overweight and BMI 40 and over. I would think
with your medical condition you should not have a problem.
They didn't cover phsyc and nutritionist. Good luck on your weight loss
