Question:
Does incontinence stop after loosing the weight?

I currently have problems with Incontinence and I was wondering if this improves after surgery. I used to hear it did, but after searching the library, I cannot find the answers to this. I am hoping that Poise is a thing of the past. Does anyone know?    — Marcia M. (posted on March 18, 2003)

It all depends on what is causing yor problem. After losing 100 lbs, on Jan 30 I ended up having a hysterectomy and bladder suspension. The doctor said it was a good thing that I had lost all that weight before having it done. Losing weight does not help a prolapse problem, but it sure does help with the recovery.

Mine did go away right after surgery! I had lost about 25 pounds and I have not had that problem since. I would imagine that at whatever weight it started it will go away when you get there again. That is what happened to me. Buh-bye poise!!!! LOL :)

I used to suffer from this problem. I am happy to report that after I had lost the first 30 pounds the problem was completely gone.

I've lost over 100 pounds and mine is mostly gone. The last few weeks I've been having symptoms of a severe allergy. If I sneeze when my bladder is full, I still leak a little, but it's so much less that it was pre-op.
